Snoozed

Snoozed
It’s been one of those days. So I am at Meijer the other day and I always check out their game selection even though the prices aren’t the most competitive. I haven’t got a great deal there since the $4.90 Dreamcast VMU find of ‘01. Anyway I see Serious Sam for the Game Boy Advance! Through all the gaming mags and websites I read I have never heard mention of this game. So today I go online to find some reviews and I can’t find any information whatsoever. I know this may not be the greatest game release ever but I like to be an informed consumer before I make a purchase. Seacrest out! Continue reading "Snoozed"

Slow and Steady

Slow and Steady
BitTorrent is a cool program for downloading but it’s not without drawbacks. So last night was the first of the last three episodes of Friends. Unfortuantely, the series last funny season ended about four to five years ago. The real tragedy is Angel getting cancelled after this season. If you’ve never seen the show it is written really well and always has unexpected twists and turns. I could go into a big tirade about how few good shows are on TV now but instead I’m just going to go to bed and dream about a world without “reality television.” Continue reading "Slow and Steady"

Peaceful Resolutions

Peaceful Resolutions
Most weekends aren’t like this. This is the first weekend in a long time that there are two movies I want to see. Although I think I am going to Punisher purely because it is a Marvel movie. If it had any other title I probably wouldn’t be interested at all. Continue reading "Peaceful Resolutions"

Son of Suckiness

Son of Suckiness
Expensive? Pointless? It meets all of K-Dog’s criteria! Some photos of the N-Gage redesign are circling around the internet. It is rumored to have a bigger screen, better button layout and a camera. I for one applaud Nokia for making all the people that bought an N-Gage feel even stupider than they already did. What do you guys think? What two gadgets would you like to see combined into one? UPDATE: According to Gamespot, Nokia just announced the redesigned N-Gage. It doesn’t have a camera and they took out the MP3 and FM radio functions. You don’t have to talk into the side anymore and you don’t have to remove the battery to change games. All this for $99 with service plan. I can’t tell if this is the same N-Gage I saw pictures of. Maybe I shouldn’t base my comic on rumors anymore. Continue reading "Son of Suckiness"

Limit One Per Customer

Limit One Per Customer
Don’t get me wrong, I like EBGames, but they just keep giving me reasons to make fun of them. In my latest issue of GMR they had these coupons that don’t actually save you any money at all. Basically you give EB your entire video game collection and they give you like $10 off something. Personally I never trade back games because you never know when you’ll want to go back and play that game again. There are a few bad games that I ended up putting on Amazon and I got back at least half of what I paid for them. I’d like to see EB beat that. If you’re one of those people who trade in five games to get one, don’t let me stop you. While I don’t trade in my games, I do purchase preowned games whenever possible. Relative Goodness

Relative Goodness
Goz and I went and saw Hellboy over the weekend. It wasn’t incredible, but it didn’t really suck. After my comic on Friday, I decided to pick up Culdcept for the PS2. It is more like Monopoly than I expected. The games are pretty even until someone lands on a big money space, then it’s real hard to come back. My favorite feature is that even if you lose a game you still get new cards for your deck which will help when you take on the opponent again. Over the weekend I also updated the ads on Bitsmack. The first is Maveric PC which builds gaming PCs. The second is PlayAsia, which is one of the best import video game sites I’ve found. I’ve also added Google Adwords to the left column. It displays links that should be of interest to gamers. Bitsmack has been providing a fun place for gamers to hang out for almost two years now and by checking out these sponsors you can help keep it going. Continue reading "Relative Goodness"

Bank Error in Your Favor

Bank Error in Your Favor
I need a new game. And by “need” I mean “not required to sustain life”. I haven’t bought a game in about a month. When that happens I start to get the shakes. I surf Gamestop and EB at work and browse the same stores after work. I think I can hold out longer. I want to go through all my games and play each one at least once. However, I don’t even have all my systems hooked up yet and the PS2 has become the dedicated DDR machine. I’ll have to get a couch for the basement before I can play Ratchet and Clank again. Continue reading "Bank Error in Your Favor"

I’ve got Sunshine

I’ve got Sunshine
I didn’t get an April fools joke done this year. Just this comic instead. There’s not much going on in the world of video games lately. Final Fantasy XI was released for the PS2, though I don’t know why anyone would want to pay $100 to play a game that’s already been out for the PC for awhile. It’ll probably be the same people who can afford $13 a month just to play one game. I’m waiting for the day that Konami turns DDR into a MMORPG. K-dog would plop down $10, $15, even $20 a month to play that. Maybe I’m just cynical because I’ve never found a game that could hold my attention that long. What do you guys think of MMORPGs? Have any of you tried them? Are they worth the monthly charge? Continue reading "I’ve got Sunshine"
