He’s losing his mind, and I’m reaping all the benefits

It’s Wednesday, here’s a comic. All this free time is getting a little boring, although I do have a job interview today. Even if I don’t get this job I’m going to find something part time just to make some money and get out of the house. I’ll post more information when I get back from the interview. Afterthoughts: My interview went pretty well. I won’t know if I got the job for another week though. Stay tuned for the latest news. "Thank goodness it’s Friday" is annoying, yet accurate

There is a new comic today. Yes, really. I’ve started trying to create my own DWI files. I found a program that makes it really easy called XStep. As soon as I get a song done I will put it in the downloads section. DVD Review: Vulgar (Not Rated) Vulgar is a View Askew production but it is not a true “Kevin Smith” movie. It was written and directed by Bryan Johnson (who plays Steve-Dave in all the other Kevin Smith movies). This dark comedy turns out to be way more dark than comedic. It is the story of a clown played by Brian O’Halloran (Dante in Clerks) who is sexually assulted. Later he becomes a TV star but his past comes back to haunt him. Johnson and O’Halloran attempt to recreate the banter that Dante and Randal had in Clerks but fall short. The comedic elements in the movie are not enough to take your mind off the disturbing attack scene. I’d say the attack scene would turn most people off on this movie. I didn’t mind the scene but my only enjoyment from the movie came from seeing other View Askew actors (like Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes) show up in cameo roles. If you aren’t a View Askew fan or don’t know Kevin Smith I can’t think of any reason to watch this movie. This DVD does have some cool special features. The commentary track with Johnson, Smith, Scott Mosier, O’Halloran and Monica Hampton is more entertaining than the movie itself. There is also a documentary in defense of Dogma that didn’t make it on to the Dogma DVD. The documentary just basically talks about the controversy surrounding Dogma and doesn’t really provide any new information that a View Askew fan wouldn’t already know. On my DVD scale of Buy it, Rent it, Avoid it, I would say if you are a View Askew fan rent it. If you’re not avoid this movie. You say you want a revolution

Today’s comic is up finally. We got back late last night from going to Wright State to play DDR Extreme, the newest DDR machine released. It is really cool. There are songs from ALL the Bemani games, even Beatmania, Pop ‘n Music and DanceManiax. It was a great day with the exception of the patchy snow on the ride home. I hope to get pictures from Bill to put up soon. Continue reading "You say you want a revolution"

Back to the Beginning – Part 4

The final part of the storyline is up. As you may have read in kruton’s post Saturday was pretty exciting. He won the Findlay DDR torunament. Then we went with some of the Defiance people up to Pinball Pete’s. It was pretty cool all the machines they had. We spent a lot of time at Drummania. The security guard was really good at it. I don’t know if he plays at home or if he just has way too many quarters. I also got a chance to see Dance Maniax. The rumors of it’s sucktitude were not exaggerated, however it was hilarious to see Ben do pelvic thrusts to hit blue notes. Good times. We had some adventures on the way home but I might discuss those later. Continue reading "Back to the Beginning – Part 4"

Back to the Beginning – Part 2

Part 2 of the comic is up. Well, it’s 2003… Yep. DVD Review: An Evening with Kevin Smith An Evening with Kevin Smith is a 2 disc DVD set that shows highlights of Q&A sessions Kevin Smith did at 5 or 6 different college campuses. Even though he plays Silent Bob in the movies Smith rarely gives a short answer in these sessions. His longer stories were obviously prepared ahead of time but he is absolutely hilarious in the way he tells them. He says he can’t act but his comic timing is excellent. I am a die hard Kevin Smith fan but about 90% of his stories were things I’ve never heard. Some of these stories include:
 • working on a script for a Superman movie
 • joining Dogma protesters outside a theater
 • his feud with Tim Burton
 • making a documentary for PrinceThe feature is about 3 hours long on 2 discs but I still felt like it was ending too soon. I actually hurt I was laughing so loud. My only minor complaint is that there are no special features whatsoever. I don’t really know what they could have included anyway. I rate DVDs 3 ways: Don’t watch it, rent it, or buy it. If you are a big Kevin Smith fan like me you’ll probably buy it. However if you don’t need it for your collection you may want to rent it because it doesn’t have any extra features to keep you coming back. Continue reading "Back to the Beginning – Part 2"

FINISH HIM!

Sometimes I base comics on events in my life, then there’s today’s comic. I had the typical holiday: presents, food, battle for world domination. K-Dog, Goz and I played a cuthroat game of Risk. Goz won, but fortunatly this was “Lord of the Rings” Risk which means Goz currently only reigns over Middle Earth and not this planet. K-Dog finally got an XBOX. We played co-op on Serious Sam and it was a lot of fun. Lastly, I got a chance to check out a couple of really cool cartoons this week. The first is Undergrads. It is awesome. I think it does a good job of depicting college life from a geek’s point of view. You should definately check it out on Comedy Central. The other cartoon was Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I can’t describe how messed up this cartoon is. It is on Cartoon Network Adult Swim. Continue reading "FINISH HIM!"

Will work for money

Today’s comic is not on my resume. I’ve been doing a lot of job searching online. Haven’t heard anything back yet. When I’m not searching I’m usually playing Beatmania. Other than that mot much is going on. I heard rumors that Christmas is next week. If this is true, I am not prepared. I have also heard rumors of a possible party at K-Dog’s for New Years. Maybe he could clear up these rumors if he ever decided to post on this site again. I’d say he’s been busy but now that finals are over he should have less to do than me. Continue reading "Will work for money"
