Don’t get me wrong, I like EBGames, but they just keep giving me reasons to make fun of them.
In my latest issue of GMR they had these coupons that don’t actually save you any money at all. Basically you give EB your entire video game collection and they give you like $10 off something. Personally I never trade back games because you never know when you’ll want to go back and play that game again. There are a few bad games that I ended up putting on Amazon and I got back at least half of what I paid for them. I’d like to see EB beat that. If you’re one of those people who trade in five games to get one, don’t let me stop you. While I don’t trade in my games, I do purchase preowned games whenever possible.

Not only are their “specials” rediculous, but their salespeople (or at least the ones in findlay) hound the crap out of you. I was in there wednesday and they were out of dreamcasts but they had a pc controller I wanted for ten bucks and before I could even pull it off the display I was surrounded by seven guys in EB shirts asking if I was interested in the one they had with analog sticks for $15 more. Did I ask for the one with analog sticks? Even before that, the same clerk asked me 4 different times if I needed help with anything. I swear, there’s nothing better than feeling very uncomfortable while shopping for video games.
I have to admit i liked that deal, they had something like that a while ago, so I just went up to bowling green garage sales and got a collection of 3 psx’s and 21 games for around $50 bucks, haha, I got a system for that much, even though the guy was pissed cus i bought all crappy games and traded those in, he kept slamming the cases on the counter as he was scanning them…
The trade-in deal at EB is a slap in the face. Honestly, if you paid $20 for each of your games, you’d have to trade in $100 worth of games to get a lousy $20 credit toward another game. And don’t get me started on the pre-owned games. I think pre-owned means they’ll take whatever piece of dogshit condition game that comes back and sell that first, after knocking a whole few dollars off of the price. They get flabberghasted when you tell them that the pre-owned stuff isn’t worth it. "Isn’t worth it?" Not if you care about condition. Even so, buying new just means they’ll try to slide a pre-owned game on you. Actually had an EB try that with a Pikmin. I opened it when I got out of the store and found game rental stickers on it. I about lost it on the guy. Grrr! From now on I think I’ll buy my games at Target.
