Under New Management

This comic should explain why I am in charge now. Your precious RC and K-Dog did not take me seriously as an evil villian and now they have paid the ultimate price. I have taken over this so-called “website” and plan to rule it with an iron fist!! Be prepared for changes to come. HA! HA! HA! Continue reading "Under New Management"

"Thank goodness it’s Friday" is annoying, yet accurate

There is a new comic today. Yes, really. I’ve started trying to create my own DWI files. I found a program that makes it really easy called XStep. As soon as I get a song done I will put it in the downloads section. DVD Review: Vulgar (Not Rated) Vulgar is a View Askew production but it is not a true “Kevin Smith” movie. It was written and directed by Bryan Johnson (who plays Steve-Dave in all the other Kevin Smith movies). This dark comedy turns out to be way more dark than comedic. It is the story of a clown played by Brian O’Halloran (Dante in Clerks) who is sexually assulted. Later he becomes a TV star but his past comes back to haunt him. Johnson and O’Halloran attempt to recreate the banter that Dante and Randal had in Clerks but fall short. The comedic elements in the movie are not enough to take your mind off the disturbing attack scene. I’d say the attack scene would turn most people off on this movie. I didn’t mind the scene but my only enjoyment from the movie came from seeing other View Askew actors (like Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes) show up in cameo roles. If you aren’t a View Askew fan or don’t know Kevin Smith I can’t think of any reason to watch this movie. This DVD does have some cool special features. The commentary track with Johnson, Smith, Scott Mosier, O’Halloran and Monica Hampton is more entertaining than the movie itself. There is also a documentary in defense of Dogma that didn’t make it on to the Dogma DVD. The documentary just basically talks about the controversy surrounding Dogma and doesn’t really provide any new information that a View Askew fan wouldn’t already know. On my DVD scale of Buy it, Rent it, Avoid it, I would say if you are a View Askew fan rent it. If you’re not avoid this movie. Back to the Beginning – Part 2

Part 2 of the comic is up. Well, it’s 2003… Yep. DVD Review: An Evening with Kevin Smith An Evening with Kevin Smith is a 2 disc DVD set that shows highlights of Q&A sessions Kevin Smith did at 5 or 6 different college campuses. Even though he plays Silent Bob in the movies Smith rarely gives a short answer in these sessions. His longer stories were obviously prepared ahead of time but he is absolutely hilarious in the way he tells them. He says he can’t act but his comic timing is excellent. I am a die hard Kevin Smith fan but about 90% of his stories were things I’ve never heard. Some of these stories include:
 • working on a script for a Superman movie
 • joining Dogma protesters outside a theater
 • his feud with Tim Burton
 • making a documentary for PrinceThe feature is about 3 hours long on 2 discs but I still felt like it was ending too soon. I actually hurt I was laughing so loud. My only minor complaint is that there are no special features whatsoever. I don’t really know what they could have included anyway. I rate DVDs 3 ways: Don’t watch it, rent it, or buy it. If you are a big Kevin Smith fan like me you’ll probably buy it. However if you don’t need it for your collection you may want to rent it because it doesn’t have any extra features to keep you coming back. Continue reading "Back to the Beginning – Part 2"

The End… or is it?

Berzerker fans might be upset by today’s comic. However, all is not lost. Anyone who has ever read a comic book before knows that no one stays dead forever. Stay tuned to see if, when and how Berzerker returns. In other news, this is my last week of class… ever. In a couple weeks I trade in my slacker wardrobe for the shackles and chains of the real world. I can’t wait! Continue reading "The End… or is it?"

The More You Know

Today’s comic is a public service announcement on behalf of all gamers. Anyway, I almost headed out the door without doing today’s post. Goz and I have the truck packed up and are ready to head to Cinciclassic. I’m pretty excited because I’ve never been to a really good classic gaming event and I hear good things about this one. If all goes well I’ll have pictures from Cinciclassic and Squidfest up next week. Continue reading "The More You Know"

Pimpin’ ain’t easy

Part 2 of Squidfest is referring to kruton “pimping out” his computer to everyone there. Anyone who didn’t already have Battlefield 1942 could get it off his machine. I have to say the program he uses to mount CD images works really well. To keep things legal we all made sure we deleted the game when we were done. This week I’ve been making updates to the site and working on building my secondary computer. I know we’ve mentioned it a lot already but I’m looking forward to CinciClassic and still have some preparations to uh… prepare. Continue reading "Pimpin’ ain’t easy"

Excuses Excuses

There are three reasons today’s comic is lame.
 1. For some reason Windows won’t detect my digital camera when I plug it in, so I can’t get my pictures of the Atari Swap Meet onto my machine.
 2. I bought Super Monkey Ball for GC.
 3. I got back late from the Skillet concert. Great band though.First off, the Atari Swap Meet was like “The Night of the Living Dead” except that it was during the day, and the people there were only mostly dead. There were about a dozen people, 3 or 4 had stuff set up to play, and there wasn’t anything for sale. Well I guess there was stuff sitting on a table that could have been for sale. I thought it was odd that the items did not have negative number price tags. I mean, they obviously didn’t expect me to pay THEM for this crap. The people that were there didn’t look like gamers, and they didn’t even look like computer nerds. They each looked like they could possibly own their own junkyard, or work at a junkyard, or maybe they just came from a junkyard. It’s the only possible explaination of why the stuff that was set up to play was so dirty and greasy. And I actually paid $4 to get into this! At least we did meet one normal person that told us about CincyClassic in a couple of weeks. Goz, kruton and I might get a table to promote BiTSMACK. The day was not a total waste. We found a new video game store in Columbus and I bought Super Monkey Ball for GC and The Bouncer for PS2. Both are pretty cool games. Continue reading "Excuses Excuses"

The First Adventure – Part 8

Our first adventure has finally come to an end. I could have made the story go on for weeks but I arrived at the point where even I don’t know what I’m talking about. I had some problems connecting to XBOX Live last night. Since it is just a beta test I can’t expect perfection, however it did set back the “convince kruton to buy an XBOX” revolution by months. Instead I just played Chrono Trigger and worked on comics. I recently bought the Microsoft Strategic Commander. It is a game device designed to fit in the left hand and make keyboard shortcuts for RTS games easier. I tried it out with Unreal Tournament, but it just doesn’t work well for FPSs. Although it does work really well with Paint Shop Pro. Tonight kruton, Goz and I are heading to Easton for the unveiling of Apple OS 10.2. I expect to see the usual mix of the rich and the hippie. I know OS releases are notorious for ensueing “Animal House” style parties, but I am more excited about going to GameWorks and playing a little DDR. Continue reading "The First Adventure – Part 8"
