Climbing the Ladder

Climbing the Ladder
I’ll let Brad explain this comic. One thing I haven’t posted on here is this great collection software I found. It’s called Collectorz and they have programs to track your movie, video game, comic or CD collection. I love organizing things and statistics so these programs are great for me. There are dozens of fields so you can keep any information you want about each item. Adding a movie or video game is easy because you just have to enter a title and all the other info is filled in from the internet, except for my Japanese games that I had to add manually. There are no online databases for comics however so you have to enter that info in yourself. So what do I do with this info? I don’t know, its kinda cool to see which years I bought the most games or which genre I have the most of. I also keep track of my progress in each game so I feel like I am accomplishing something. You can also track who you loaned a game or movie to. It is a little pricey, $40 for each program or discounts for two or more. But if you’re like me and want to know instantly what your high score in Frogger is, it might be worth checking out. Continue reading "Climbing the Ladder"

Tilty
We’ve been playing a lot of poker lately. I’m suprised I haven’t done a comic about it sooner. Over the weekend some of us went to Ohayocon. It was bigger than last year. I restrained from buying anything, but we did get a bunch of pictures of people dressed up. I hope to get those pictures up this week. I used my Christmas gift certificates to buy Resident Evil 4. I know I have made fun of the first one in the past, but RE4 is by far the best survival horror game I’ve ever played. The controls are tight, the visuals are incredible and the whole game is better than most horror movies I’ve seen. If you’re like me and never really tried Resident Evil, RE4 is a good place to start. Continue reading "Tilty"

WoW!

WoW!
Since all I do in my free time is play World of Warcraft I decided to do a comic about it. I have come to the realization that I cannot keep up with the amount of entertainment that I have. So now I am multitasking. I have my old laptop setup to use for AIM, I am playing Warcraft on my eMac, and I have a monitor hooked up to my PS2 so I can watch 24 Season 3. Since Season 4 started I need to catch up. This has doubled my Geek efficency! Once I get caught up on my DVDs will I dare take the next step of playing 2 video games at once? Only time will tell. Blackout – Part 3

Blackout – Part 3
Where was I going with this? I don’t think I have been playing World of Warcraft long enough to be considered an addict by clinical definition. However, I do play it from the time I get home from work until time for bed only stopping for supper. There’s just so much to do in this game its always “let’s finish one more quest” or “I need to get to the next level” followed by “what new powers can I get on this level?” If you have a social life and always on the go I don’t suggest this game. But if you have a lot of time on your hands and want that time to go by lightning fast by all means pick this one up. Continue reading "Blackout – Part 3"

Blackout – Part 2

Blackout – Part 2
Here’s part 2 of our ongoing story. I have a long rant I want to make but its late because I’ve been playing World of Warcraft. So maybe I’ll post it in the morning. Good morning. If anyone has ever wondered why I play console games more than PC let me describe for you how I spent Tuesday night. Brad picked up two copies of World of Warcraft because I thought it was finally time to try one of these MMORPGs that are so darned popular. The game comes on four discs and I started installing about 6:30. I wish I would have timed it to see how long it took, but once I got through all four discs I had to download the latest patch. This was about 55MB and even though they use torrents it still took a long time. Even after it finished downloading it still took several minutes to install the patch. By the time I got to the point I could actually play the game it was about 9:30. But there was a catch, I still couldn’t play the game. When I tried to create a character the models weren’t showing up and I had all kinds of graphical crap everywhere. Since I am on a Mac I don’t have to download updated video drivers because they are included in each OSX update. Luckily the next day Goz found on the forums that there was a video setting I could change that would fix the problem. So in all it took me several hours to play a game whereas on a console I just have to put in a disc. Now I know I said I was on a Mac but in the past I have had even worse problems in PC gaming. I seem to remember one game that didn’t work with the most recent video drivers so I had to install old video drivers. Maybe if you have a top of the line PC you don’t have as many problems with games but you still have to sit through the install and patching process. That being said World of Warcraft is a really sweet game. You can get a bunch of quests and do them in whatever order you want. You can explore pretty much anywhere. I guess the only thing I have to compare it to is City of Heroes that I played for about a week. I liked the character creation and the super hero theme of CoH but I think in the long run WoW seems like there is more to do and won’t get redundant as fast. Continue reading "Blackout – Part 2"

My Favorite Games

My Favorite Games
Here’s your present: the biggest Bitsmack comic yet! It seems like Christmas has came out of nowhere, punched me in the gut and ran away. I have a couple more presents to wrap and I’m looking forward to exchanging gifts with my friends and family. Thursday I have to “work” until noon and then we have the company Christmas party. I hope I don’t get snowed in and forced to stay home. Hmmm… I don’t think my sarcasm was obvious enough in that last sentance. Oh well, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! That last one wasn’t sarcastic, just in case you were confused from before. Continue reading "My Favorite Games"

Metal Gear Santa

Metal Gear Santa
How does Santa deliver all those presents without being detected? I can’t believe Christmas is less than two weeks away and I haven’t bought a single present or put up any decorations. I thought that time would slow down once I got out of college but I think the years just go by faster. Next month it will be two years that I’ve lived in Columbus. Wow.
