KUALOA

K-Dog uses a lot of acronyms. The GBA SP comes out soon. You can still vote in the poll on what game I should get. Right now, Golden Sun and Zelda are in the lead but any of the other games still have a shot. Continue reading "KUALOA"

The Opposite of Crap

K-Dog’s Birthday Party was one of the best ones yet. Continuing his streak of great parties, there were lots of people, lots of games and lots of laughs. We had a total of 4 TVs continously going with different games: Timesplitters 2 Halo Super Monkey Ball DDR Conker’s Bad Fur Day Perfect Dark World Class Track Meet It wasn’t all video games because we also had Catch Phrase and RAW Deal. I think at some point people were watching Lord of the Rings. All in all it was a great time. In addition to the new comic I also updated the characters page. Continue reading "The Opposite of Crap"

Ebay-Man Episode 2 – Two Peas in an iPod

The new comic is up. Because of the drought in new video games I’ve decided to get out one of the classics: The Legend of Zelda, The Ocarina of Time. Instead of playing my Gamecube bonus disk I decided to get out the original because I never finished the game and I didn’t want to start at the beginning. After about an hour trying to figure out where I was in the game I determined I actually only need to beat two more dungeons. Last night K-Dog, the youth group and I went to the Relient K album release party/concert. It was a good time. I haven’t listened to their new album yet but it will be hard to top their last one. One last thing, we’re still looking for comic nominations. So far we have 3. Even if you don’t plan on buying a shirt you can still nominate a comic. I’m curious to see which ones are favorites. Click “comments” below. Continue reading "Ebay-Man Episode 2 – Two Peas in an iPod"

I Dream of MIDI

Today’s comic sums up how I spent yesterday. Once I found out how to download MIDI files to my cell phone I went nuts. I found some cool sites that have video game MIDI files. The first is VGMusic.com. This site has the largest database of MIDI files I could find. Another cool site is the DDR MIDI Palace. They have a lot of DDR songs in MIDI format. If anyone else has a cell phone that says it plays polyphonic ringers let me know and I can tell you how to download them to your cellphone. Even if you have an older cell phone you may be able to input your own video game theme songs. Do a search on Google for RTTTL and you should be able to find songs and instructions on how to get them on your phone. I also picked up a couple interesting games this week. I happened to be at Target getting some stuff for the apartment when of course I had to check out their game selection. While I was expecting the same games you’d find at a WalMart or Meijer I was surprised that they had lower prices. I got Timesplitters 2 for $30. I’d been waiting since before Christmas for this game to drop. It was well worth the wait. When you play the first level it’s like playing some glorious updated version of Goldeneye. It’s not just a FPS, it’s more like Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell from a first person view. Many missions require you to use stealth instead of just shooting everything. If you haven’t noticed, there seem to be this new crop of PS1 games showing up everywhere. They’re usually about $10 and have generic names like “Racing” or “Billiards.” I found one called “Superstar Dance Club.” I thought, “could it be, someone made an affordable clone to DDR?” Not exactly. The game is more like Parappa where you have to hit the right button as the cursor goes from left to right to the beat of the music. It is mildly entertaining and I could always try it out with the dance pad to see what that’s like. Continue reading "I Dream of MIDI"

A Hero is Born

With great power comes great irresponsibility. Friday night Goz and I went and saw the movie Old School. It was pretty good. My only complaint was that there really wasn’t a climax to the movie, it was just a bunch of funny stuff that happens and then it ends. Saturday was the DDR tournament at Defiance. I’ll let KDogg go into more detail on that. Continue reading "A Hero is Born"

Can you hold, I’ve got Pac-Man on the other line

I got a new cell phone. Sure I’ve had a cell phone for a few years but the ones I’ve had were cheap and weren’t worth carrying around because they wouldn’t stay charged or I’d a lose the signal. However, since the company was paying for this new cell phone I decided to get a good one. It has a color screen, voicemail, callerid and you can download games, pictures, screensavers, ringers, all kinds of crap. I’m hoping to download some better games than the ones included. The first one is a demo of a car racing game that is sluggish and boring. The second is Space Invaders, but it is also slow. The third is Monkey Ball. Keep in mind I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as the Gamecube version or even the Game Boy Advance version, but it still isn’t that great. I think it’s the fact you have to control your monkey with a button the size of a tic tac that brings this game down. I just don’t think action games work well on a cell phone. Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings’ end

You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here. Thursday I went to Columbus and found a really cool apartment. When I first walked in to look at it I thought “whoa this dude’s got a great apartment, oh wait, I’m going to live here!” If my application goes through as it should I’ll be moving in this weekend. I’m going to miss some things about Findlay: a group of friends I will refer to as “the George House crew”, Keaton’s lounge parties, the Defiance DDR gang and playing 5th mix at the mall. That isn’t to say I won’t see these people again, I’ll still try to make it to the tournaments and other events. In Columbus I hope to infiltrate the DevryGuyz lair just so I can see what I would look like as an 8 bit character. Does this mean the end of the Bitsmackers? No. I mostly talk to K-Dog on instant messenger and only see him on weekends anyway. I’m sure we’ll find ways to have our wacky adventures. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to get back to packing. If you’re wondering why it’s taken me so long to pack it’s because I’m lazy, or possibly because of aliens… but mostly the laziness thing.
