From the road

From the road
You would think I would do a Halloween comic today, wrong! I’ve been in Cincinnati for the last couple of days and its hard to do a comic when I don’t have access to my computer. Anyway, it really isn’t Halloween until I leave my client (aka Satan) and head back to Columbus for some Devryguyz party action. Continue reading "From the road"

Anime Night

Anime Night
Today’s comic features the long overdue debut of the UF Bitsmacker April! Anime Night last Friday was a complete success. That is to say, if the success of an anime night is measured by whether people watch anime, then this night was successful. This time the theme was “non-giant robot” anime. We watched FLCL, Excel Saga, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop The Movie. After that we watched some Family Guy. If you’re not familar with Bawls, it is a caffeine drink that was founded by a group of 6th graders. It’s nearly impossible to mention its name without spawning 10-20 minutes of jokes about the name. Tastes good though. Continue reading "Anime Night"

The Year was 1993…

The Year was 1993…
Today’s ”comic” is completely real. A wise man once said, “those who forget the 90s are doomed to repeat them.” In other news, the entire Bitsmack gang and maybe a few DevryGuyz will be at Easton Friday night for the release of the new version of OS X. Even if you don’t own a Mac like me it’s still fun to watch the people that will line up for this kind of thing. Forget going to a haunted house, cornfield or hoochie, for real scares come to the Apple Store Friday night at 8pm. BOO! Continue reading "The Year was 1993…"

iTunes

iTunes
Other than a few minor complaints, iTunes for Windows is pretty good. This week I decided to pack up the Dreamcast. I came to the conclusion that I haven’t played it or even had it hooked up since I moved here in January. It’s not that I don’t like the system, it’s just in the “yesterday’s news” catagory. It’s not new enough to keep up with the big 3, and it’s not old enough to be a classic. In its place the SNES has graduated to the living room. Here’s to you Dreamcast… until we meet again. Continue reading "iTunes"

Ok, One More

Ok, One More
Today’s comic is the last time I make fun of the N-Gage… unless I run out of comic ideas, then it’s POW! right in Nokia’s jaw. The wheel of interest is spinning once again, I’ve finally been able to identify all of my hobbies I switch between:
 1. new video games
 2. anime
 3. classic video games
 4. movies and TV on DVD
 5. import video games
 6. Heroclix, Magic, other non-video games
 7. RPGs
As you can see I live a very full and rewarding life. Anyway, yesterday I started surfing some import game sites and stumbled upon a few really cool games. Here’s some links so you can see that Japan gets a lot cooler video game stuff than we do. Space Invaders 25th Anniversary Dragon Quest w/ Sword Transformers (the original, not Armada crap) Mojib Ribbon Continue reading "Ok, One More"

Treason

Treason
When I got back from New Orleans, I wasn’t expecting this. The Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference was ok. There wasn’t anything there that would interest a normal person. However after hours, Microsoft knows how to throw a party. Thursday night they rented out the House of Blues and we had free drinks the whole night. The band was really good and the fake Blues Brothers even came out to sing a couple songs. Friday night not only was the House of Blues rented out, but the whole street was blocked off for Microsoft partners. This time the band was none other than Smashmouth. Afterwards we walked a couple blocks to Bourbon street. It wasn’t anything spectactular, but it also wasn’t spring break. All in all it was a pretty good time.

N-Gage Joke-Off

N-Gage Joke-Off
Yesterday the worst portable system in history was released. Remember this date to tell your grandkids. According to this article Nokia plans on selling six million units in the first two years. What the article does not mention is that 5.9 million will be bought by Nokia chief Ilkka Raiskinen’s parents and the other 100,000 will be donated to mentally handicapped children. The funniest thing is how gaming magazines and websites try to maintain their objectivity and pretend the N-Gage is a real console. They all know it sucks but they just won’t come out and say it. Honestly, I want to meet someone who bought an N-Gage, just out of pure scientific interest. It’d be like getting to meet Jack after he came home with magic beans. In other news the shirts have been ordered. We should get them in a couple weeks. Continue reading "N-Gage Joke-Off"

Surprise Party

Surprise Party
It’s no surprise that there is a comic today. I know Rogue Squadron III is a couple weeks away from being released but I can’t help poking fun at it because it bothers me so much. Everyone claims this game is something new but it’s based on the most overplayed franchise in video game history. The day will come when Star Wars games will add the year to the end of their title like sports games. Teenagers who weren’t even alive when Phantom Menace came out will have the following conversation: “Hey, did you hear Star Wars 2006 is out?” “No way man! I haven’t finished the Death Star trench battle on Star Wars 2005 yet.” “Well I heard the Death Star trench battle on 2006 is much better.” I am a Star Wars fan, but I’d rather play something with a new storyline, like KOTOR. At least then I wouldn’t have to shoot those darn AT-ATs anymore. Continue reading "Surprise Party"
