Charlie and Eko want to blow open the room with dynamite so they can push the button. It’s like the season 1 finale all over again.

In the present: Michael trades the gang for Walt and the button doesn’t get pressed.
Flashback: We find out the hatch prevents an electro magnetism build up and there is a fail safe.

The big reveal in this episode is that Desmond was responsible for crashing Oceanic 815. The hatch blows up, but it blows up in a “not actually harmful to anyone” sort of way. Then at the end there is a cool scene with a base in Antarctica that detects the island and tells Penny about it. Now on to Season 3!

There’s a sailboat! And who’s on it, just drunk Desmond.

On the island: Things are building towards a big battle with The Others.
Off the island: Desmond gets a boat from Libby so he can sale around the world and piss off Penny’s dad.

This is the first part of the season finale. Michael is leading the main characters into a trap, Locke and Eko are fighting over a button and Sayid, Sun and Jin are sailing around the island. In the flashbacks I forgot that Libby had been married before and that her husband had a boat. Ah yes we also see the 4 toed statue. We never did get an answer on why it only had 4 toes. We also see Kelvin in the hatch when Desmond crashed there. Kelvin was the army guy in Sayid’s back story.

13 Days Ago, Michael steals a gun and heads out to find Walt. I don’t know why Michael knocked out Locke first and then decided to go into the Dharma chatroom to argue about whether Kirk or Picard was a better captain. I would think it’d be better to do things the other way around.

On the island: Michael needs to get certain people to come to The Others
Flashbacks: Michael gets captured by The Others

I don’t get why The Others wanted Walt. Isn’t Ben supposedly working for Jacob at this point? It makes even less sense when we meet Miss Clue. I don’t think we ever get an explanation on her but she asks Michael all these strange questions about whether Walt has ever been sick or showed up in weird places. I think it is dumb that Charlie throws all the heroin into the ocean. It could have had some use for medicinal purposes. When Michael finally gets to see Walt, Walt says they have been making him take tests. Also Miss Clue says something about putting him “back in the room”. I wonder if it is that same room they used to brainwash people Clockwork Orange style. We’re building to the finale, only 2 episodes left.

I’m still trying to figure out why Ben lied to Locke and said that he didn’t push the button and nothing happened. Ben obviously pushed the button and he knows how dangerous it is, why would he want Locke to not press the button?

On the island: Eko and Locke search for the question mark from the hatch drawing.
Off the island: While Eko is posing as a priest he has to investigate a possible miracle.

In this episode Eko’s brother appears to him in a dream and appears to Locke in a dream. I am wondering if the smoke monster has the ability to create these dreams for people on the island. Several of the characters have been having these dreams this season. The fortune teller from Claire’s episode is back as the father of the girl who drowned. This is a cool episode because we get to see the station that monitors the Swan station. There is another orientation video that explains how the Pearl station monitors the Swan station and supposedly the Swan station is an experiment.

Ashley’s note: she officially does not like Michael anymore because he shot Libby.

Rewatching Lost – Two for the Road

Previously on Lost, Ana Lucia show a guy in cold blood. Oh crap that means we have to sit through another Ana Lucia episode. Ben tries to kill Ana Lucia and I root for him.

On the island: Ana Lucia bones Sawyer to get a gun.
Off the island: Ana Lucia accompanies Christian Shepherd on his trip to Australia.

The cop car numbers in the flashback have the numbers on them. Also Ana Lucia hangs out with Christian Shepherd in a bar. I wonder if all the Lost characters will have a drink with him at some point in time. This is the first we find out Christian Shepherd has a daughter in Australia. Oh hey, this is the episode where Michael kills off Ana Lucia, YAY!

Ashley’s note: She didn’t like that he killed Libby but she was glad to see Ana Lucia go.

Rewatching Lost – S.O.S.

Bernard is ready to get off the island. Rose is happy on the island. And now we get their backstory.

On the island: Bernard wants to save Rose by making an S.O.S. sign on the beach.
Off the island: Bernard tried every crazy way to save Rose from cancer.

Not a lot of island mysteries in this one, except Rose and Locke were somehow cured by the island. And Michael comes back at the end.

Hurley and Libby are working out on the beach Biggest Loser style. Might as well face it Hurley’s addicted to food. They decide to trash his secret supply of food while the other survivors are like “uh other people could use that food you know.”

On the island: Hurley sees his imaginary friend who tells him to eat.
Off the island: Hurley sees his imaginary friend who tells him to eat.

Seeing this again, my theory is that Dave on the island was actually the smoke monster. He can’t kill Hurley directly because he is a candidate so that’s why he is trying to convince Hurley to kill himself.

Ashley’s note: Dave loses his sandal in the woods and Hurley finds it, it’s like Cinderella.

Rewatching Lost – Lockdown

Locke has got a ring, I think he’s going to propose to Leela. It looks like a Locke episode, maybe they should have called it Lockedown.

On the island: The hatch goes into lockdown and supplies are dropped.
Off the island: Locke does some stuff for his dad and Helen left him.

We never get an answer on who Henry Gale was. I think it would have been cool to see a flashback on how his balloon got to the island, kinda like we got with the Nigerian plane. In Locke’s flashback he met Nadia. I think season 2 was all about connecting as many people as possible through flashbacks. At the end of the episode they find out Ben is not Henry Gale and it gets real.
