Fifty years of LEGO bricks

Ladies and gentlemen, start your building, the LEGO bricks are now 50!

I still remember getting my first Lego set, and still have some of those same bricks. This was before all the licensing of other properties and the focus on huge specialized pieces. Am I now a sellout for all the Star Wars sets I now have? :-)

I heard a stat that there are 62 Lego pieces for every person in the world.

I would guess that between my Legos and my kid’s, we account for 100 persons’-worth just in our house.
