Bungie concept artist Eddie Smith described the Master Chief as “pretty much the consumate professional. He does his job, walks off, dosn’t even get the girl he’s that cool, he dosn’t need her.”

No wonder so many people identify with him, it’s just that they think they’re so cool they don’t need the girl.

From an artistic standpoint it is really hard to connect to a character when you never see their face and even their name is unremarkable in any way.

Building on your theory though, maybe Halo fans identify with him because they also want to be in a suit that covers their entire body, especially the face.

Well, a quick trip to images.google.com, and a search on “master chief cosplay” has mixed results:

But the original image I saw on images.google.com reminds me of another hero that could easily stand in for Master Chief:

Robocop could totally own Master Chief. Heck, Robocop could fly by the third installment, Master Chief is slacking off.

Yeah you can’t compare Robocop to Master Chief. Robocop is way more awesome. He is one bad mother crusher (TV version). “Your move, creep.”
