Aarrrgh…. The gods of Nintendo are against me
So I’m trying to find out what all the hype is about with Metroid. Unfortunately, my NES is getting worse and worse with cartridges, so I installed a new connector. This makes it somewhat better, but it still is not 100%… In fact, I’m playing tonight and it just locks up on me.
So I ask, what are the tips on getting the most out of my NES. (And don’t say get a top loader, I don’t want to pay the money and it doesn’t have AV out).
I’ve already:

- You could get a toploader… oh wait, nevermind
- Play NesterDC
- Get a Super Nintendo and Super Metroid

Total Score -1… Yes, worst advice ever.

It’s all about care and upkeep. Make sure the NES is well-ventilated. Keep the cover closed while not inserting a game to prevent dust from entering the console/game. Clean games/system periodically. Store games in a temperate, dry area free of dust. Use the jiggle or double cart methods on those tricky games. Play it often.

You say you
“Started cleaning the carts.”
I would suggest you finish cleaning the carts.
